Terms of use

These terms apply when you use 24x7.beer, including Brew Notes at 24x7.beer/brew. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

Last updated: 21 October 2026

1. Who runs the site

24x7.beer and Brew Notes are a free website run by Graham Doessel of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia ("we", "us"). The site earns a little from affiliate links, and the shop is run by a separate seller connected with Graham, under its own terms of sale. You can reach us through the contact form.

2. Age

This site is about making alcoholic drinks. You must be at least 18 and at least the legal drinking age where you live to create an account, post or submit a recipe.

3. Your account

4. Forum rules

Be decent. You must not post anything that:

We may edit, hide or remove posts, lock threads, or remove accounts at our discretion. We don't have to explain why.

5. Content you post in the forum

You keep ownership of your forum posts. You give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual licence to host, reproduce and communicate them to the public on this site, including where other members quote them, and to keep backup copies.

You consent to us shortening, hiding or editing your posts for moderation, for example to remove personal information or abuse.

If you delete your account, your posts stay on the site under "deleted user" unless you ask us to remove them. If you ask, we will remove them, unless we need to keep them to deal with a legal complaint.

You confirm that you have the right to post what you post.

6. Recipe suggestions

You can suggest a recipe for the site. We may want to publish, edit and compile the recipes we accept, including in a printed or digital book or collection that may be sold. So suggestions work differently from forum posts. When you submit a recipe suggestion and sign it, you:

  1. confirm it's yours. You confirm you wrote the recipe and its wording yourself. If it is based on someone else's recipe, you made your own changes and wrote it in your own words, and you did not copy any wording, photos or tables from a book, website, video or another person. You also confirm you have not already given or licensed the rights in it to anyone else.
  2. assign copyright to us. You assign to Graham Doessel all copyright and other intellectual property rights in your submission, worldwide and for the full term of those rights. This assignment takes effect when you submit. The full legal name you type in the signature box is your signature on this assignment and consent.
  3. keep a licence to use your own recipe. Graham Doessel licenses you, free and permanently, to use, copy, share and adapt your own submission for your own non-commercial purposes, including on your own website or social media. This licence is non-exclusive. You can't use it to sell the recipe or to license it to anyone else.
  4. give a back-up licence. If the assignment is not effective for any reason, you instead grant Graham Doessel an exclusive (except for your own licence in point 3), perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free licence to reproduce, communicate to the public, publish, edit and adapt your submission in any format, including printed or digital collections, and to sub-license or transfer those rights. If that licence cannot be exclusive, it is non-exclusive.
  5. consent about moral rights. As the author you have moral rights in your submission, and they cannot be transferred. You consent to Graham Doessel, and anyone he licenses or transfers the copyright to, doing any of the following with this submission, even if it would otherwise infringe your right of attribution, your right not to have authorship falsely attributed, or your right of integrity:
    • editing, adapting, shortening, translating or combining it with other material;
    • publishing it, as edited, credited as "Recipe by [your credit name]" or "Adapted from a recipe by [your credit name]";
    • publishing it without credit where crediting is not reasonably practical.
  6. agree there is no payment. You will not be paid, or receive any royalty or other benefit, for your submission, even if it appears in a book or collection that is sold.
  7. understand we decide. We decide whether to publish it. We may edit it, combine it with other material, or never use it. If we have not published your suggestion and you ask us to withdraw it, we will not publish it.

If we publish your recipe, we will credit you by the name you gave us, wherever we reasonably can.

Please don't submit a recipe you have already given or licensed to someone else, or one you have published in something you sell.

7. Information only, and brewing at your own risk

The recipes, guides and forum posts on this site are general information from hobbyists. They are not professional, legal, health or safety advice.

Brewing involves hot liquids, glass under pressure, chemicals and alcohol, and you do it at your own risk. Please read the full disclaimer.

You are responsible for checking and following the laws where you live. In Australia, beer, wine and cider you make at home are for personal, non-commercial use only and must not be sold. Making alcohol to sell needs separate licences and registrations. Distilling alcohol without an excise licence is illegal in Australia, and in many other countries.

8. Our liability

Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or any other law, that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows:

9. Links

We link to other websites for reference. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content.

10. Changes

We may update these terms by posting a new version here and changing the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will put a notice on the site at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you don't agree with a change, you can stop using the site and delete your account.

Changes do not affect recipe suggestions you have already submitted, unless you agree.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.

12. If part of these terms is invalid

If any part of these terms is invalid or unenforceable, it is read down or removed, and the rest continues to apply.
